QUEEN KAPI‘OLANI HOTEL Built on royal lands in 1967, this landmark hotel is undergoing a US$35 million renovation. It has 315 guestrooms, including 36 suites, with views over Kapi‘olani Park, Waikīkī Beach and Lē‘ahi (Diamond Head). Named after Hawai‘i’s Queen from 1874 to 1891, it has a refreshed al fresco restaurant on the third floor, DECK, which offers modern American cuisine with a Hawaiian twist, a coffee bar in the lobby, fitness centre and new retailers including a surf shop and art gallery. SHERATON WAIKIKI Its infinity-edge pool which overlooks Waikīkī Beach with views to Lē‘ahi (Diamond Head) is the major selling point of this resort. It also has ocean views from 80 per cent of its 1,636 guestrooms and suites and a Spa Khakara on the fourth floor. Dining options include Rumfire Bar and Restaurant, the open-air The Edge of Waikiki and Hapas Pizzas. THE KAHALA HOTEL AND RESORT Experience casual luxury at this independent hotel on a quiet beach in Honolulu’s exclusive residential area Kāhala, only a 10 minute shuttle ride away from Waikīkī. Everyone from Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor to George Clooney has stayed here. Dine on fusion fare at Hoku's, Italian cuisine at Arancino or at the more casual Seaside Grill. THE LAYLOW, AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION Boutique hotel The Laylow has opened in Waikīkī after a US$60 million renovation. Part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection and formerly the Aqua Waikiki Wave, the hotel is on Kuhio Ave, just behind the International Market Place. Originally opened in 1969 as the Coral Reef hotel, it has 186 guestrooms and 65 suites decorated with monstera leaf wallpaper, with balconies and king beds in every room. Its signature restaurant, Hideout, has an open-air terrace where musicians perform, with two fire pits. THE MODERN HONOLULU This stylish boutique hotel has a sleek Sunrise Pool and a Sunset Pool one floor above overlooking the marina. Have a drink at the quirky lobby bar The Study, or dine al fresco at The Grove Restaurant and Bar before dancing the night away at Addiction nightclub. THE RITZ-CARLTON RESIDENCES, WAIKIKI BEACH Opened in July 2016, this 38-storey residential-style resort has 307 rooms overlooking the ocean, including penthouses with rooftop plunge pools. Positioned next to the Luxury Row retailers Tiffany & Co., Chanel, Saint Laurent, Gucci and Miu Miu, it has the highest infinity-edge pool in Waikīkī, overlooking the treetops of Fort DeRussy, a large Ritz-Carlton Spa and Sushi Sho’s first location outside of Japan, as well as a Dean & Deluca gourmet market and another restaurant BLT Market. A second tower will open next year, marking the completion of the resort. THE ROYAL HAWAIIAN Known as the “Pink Palace of the Pacific”, this six-level hotel was built in 1927 and unveiled an extensive renovation in 2009. With Spanish-Moorish- style architecture, the Luxury Collection Resort hotel has 528 rooms, including 33 suites. Enjoy a massage in a cabana amid tropical gardens at Abhasa spa, have a cocktail at the famous Mai Tai Bar and dine at Azure. TRUMP INTERNATIONAL HOTEL WAIKIKI The first and only Forbes Travel Guide five-star hotel on O‘ahu, Trump International Hotel Waikiki has 462 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and marble baths, including six two-bedroom penthouse suites, and an infinity- edge pool on the sixth floor.
