GRAND HYATT KAUAI RESORT AND SPA The largest resort on the island, the Grand Hyatt is located near Po‘ipū Beach on the South Shore, half an hour from the airport. It has Hawaiian-style architecture, more than 600 guestrooms and suites, a golf course, two tennis courts, a tranquil spa with treatment rooms in garden huts and volcanic rock showers, a large multi-level pool connected by a ‘lazy river’ and waterslide and a calm saltwater lagoon in front of the beach. Enjoy cocktails at the Shipwreck Bar, Captain’s Bar or Stevenson’s Sushi & Spirits and dine on Pacific Rim cuisine at Tidepools or Italian at Dondero’s. HANALEI BAY RESORT A large free-form lagoon pool overlooking Hanalei Bay, surrounded by waterfalls and tropical gardens with a spa in a grotto carved from volcanic rock, is the centrepiece of this North Shore resort. There’s also a smaller pool popular with adults, a fire pit and music lessons are offered at the Ukulele Bar. The resort’s Bali Hai restaurant is being renovated this year, but you can still dine at the Happy Talk Bar and Lounge. KOLOA LANDING RESORT AT POIPU This South Shore resort has the largest luxury villas on the island, as well as studio rooms and a 334sq m penthouse suite. Features include the poolside Holoholo Grill, run in partnership with celebrity chef Sam Choy, a day spa with the island’s only all-copper Ofuro Japanese soaking tub, three pools with barbecues, hot tubs and fire pits. KAUAI MARRIOTT RESORT This grandly designed resort on Kalapaki Beach has 356 rooms, including 11 suites. Dotted with fire pits, it has a Jack Nicklaus-designed championship golf course, a large pool with five hot tubs plus a children’s pool for kids 10 and under with a waterslide. A family movie night is held on the grass by the beach once a week. THE ST. REGIS PRINCEVILLE RESORT This expansive resort on the North Shore has a large, glass-tiled infinity-edge pool with private St Regis Princeville Resort Hotel Kauai.
